Wawa at Route 73 and Cooper Road rejected by Voorhees Planning Board

Plans for a new Super Wawa near the intersection of Route 73 northbound and Cooper Road have been halted after the Voorhees Township Planning Board voted against the proposal.

During the September 10 meeting, board members and local residents voiced strong concerns over traffic congestion in the already-busy Cooper Road corridor. The proposed development, which included gasoline pumps and was located near the Voorhees-Berlin border, faced significant opposition due to potential impacts on roadway safety and traffic flow.

The project, submitted by NIKI-J&J Voorhees Cooper Partners LLC, led by James and Jeff Angeloni, ended in a 3-3 tie vote after board member Maureen Augustine abstained. The tie resulted in an automatic denial of the application.

The plan was originally scheduled for further review by Berlin Township in October, but with Voorhees’ rejection, the future of the project remains uncertain.
