Voorhees Town Center Redevelopment Moves Forward

Voorhees Town Center Redevelopment Moves Forward

The Voorhees Township Committee has approved a sweeping redevelopment plan for the former Echelon Mall, now known as Voorhees Town Center. The project, led by North Jersey–based Hoboken Brownstone Company, marks a major step toward transforming the long-vacant property into a vibrant, mixed-use community.

The redevelopment calls for 317 new residential units, including 207 market-rate townhomes, 50 affordable for-sale townhomes, and 60 affordable rental apartments. Complementing the residential component will be over 38,000 square feet of new commercial and entertainment space, a multi-level parking garage with 1,300–1,500 spaces, and new park areas, bike paths, and landscaped public gathering spaces.

As part of the plan, the developer will also donate 30,000 square feet of indoor space to Voorhees Township for community use. Preliminary concept plans indicate that the new townhomes will be constructed on the existing parking lots surrounding the mall, while the current mall structure—and Boscov’s department store—will remain in place.
