Three-Lane Car Wash Proposed in Voorhees Township

Three-Lane Car Wash Proposed in Voorhees Township

A developer has proposed constructing a three-lane car wash at a prominent intersection in Voorhees Township, New Jersey. The project would replace a former gas station and residential property near the Cherry Hill border.

TNG Voorhees LLC is seeking approval to redevelop two parcels at White Horse Road and Evesham Road. The proposal includes demolishing the former Shell station at 1607 Evesham Road and a neighboring home at 1502 White Horse Road.

However, the development requires a use variance from the Voorhees Township Zoning Board of Adjustment. One of the properties carries rural residential zoning, which does not permit car wash operations.

The zoning board is scheduled to review the application during its November 12 meeting.

Under the proposed plans, the car wash would feature three lanes with driveway access from both Evesham Road and White Horse Road. The intersection also connects with Springdale Road on the Cherry Hill side.

Notably, the surrounding area includes several established retail and commercial destinations. Nearby properties include The Shoppes at Holly Ravine, Holly Ravine Farm, ShopRite, and Saddlehill Winery.

The former Shell station has been under TNG Voorhees LLC’s ownership since 2017. Property records indicate the ownership group acquired the site for approximately $1.66 million.

Meanwhile, Granite Peak Property Investments LP purchased the neighboring residential property for $650,000 in June 2026. Both properties would be incorporated into the proposed redevelopment.

The application highlights the potential for repositioning older commercial properties along established South Jersey retail corridors. Replacing an existing gasoline station with a new service-oriented business represents a proposed change in the site’s use.

However, the project must satisfy local zoning requirements before moving forward. The requested use variance requires additional consideration of the proposed development’s impact on the surrounding community.

Furthermore, the intersection’s existing traffic patterns and multiple roadway connections make site access an important consideration during the review process.

For Camden County’s commercial real estate market, the proposal represents another potential redevelopment opportunity in Voorhees Township. The project would introduce a new automotive service use near several established retail destinations.

The November zoning board hearing will help determine whether the proposed car wash can advance toward development.
