State Pushes Sixers on Camden Arena Proposal with Huge Incentives

New Jersey officials have proposed using state-owned land in Camden for a major mixed-use development featuring a world-class arena, as well as commercial, residential, and retail spaces, according to ROI-NJ.

Supported by Gov. Phil Murphy and the Legislature, the multibillion-dollar project would be located on the former state prison site near the Delaware River and north of the Ben Franklin Bridge. Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, would self-finance the project and could receive hundreds of millions in tax incentives.

HBSE may qualify for two Aspire tax credits, each worth up to $400 million, due to the project’s dual focus on an arena and mixed-use development.
