Camden Riverfront Redevelopment Moves Forward

Camden Riverfront Redevelopment Moves Forward

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has officially launched a search for developers to reimagine a key stretch of Camden’s waterfront. The state agency issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) for nearly 16 acres along the Delaware River — directly across from Philadelphia — as part of a broader effort to revitalize the city’s riverfront corridor.

Positioned to offer sweeping skyline views of Philadelphia and easy access to nearby public parks, the site is being marketed as an ideal location for a dynamic mixed-use project.

“This is a major milestone in Camden’s continued renaissance, and we are looking forward to the new opportunities that the redevelopment of this property will bring,” said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

The redevelopment area includes the former Riverfront State Prison and Weeks Marine properties, both located north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. The Weeks Marine site at 901 Beach Street spans approximately nine acres and previously served as a contractor storage yard, according to CoStar data.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, which owns the Weeks Marine property, has already begun early planning for a waterfront park that would connect to existing and planned recreational projects throughout the region — further enhancing Camden’s evolving waterfront landscape.
