The Animal Welfare Association (AWA) has acquired five wooded acres adjacent to its Voorhees shelter, with the goal of safeguarding the surrounding environment and creating opportunities for future expansion. While there are no immediate development plans, the nonprofit described the purchase as a proactive step toward long-term sustainability.
Centennial Boulevard has seen considerable construction activity in recent years, with additional apartment projects underway. Against this backdrop, AWA views the land as both a buffer and a foundation for growth.
“This land represents more than just open space—it’s an investment in the well-being of our animals, our staff, and the community we serve,” said AWA Executive Director Laura Houston. “We’re excited to begin envisioning how this property can support the long-term goals of our organization.”
